George Keppel, 3rd Earl of Albemarle (1724-1772), was 3rd Viscount Bury, 3rd Earl of Albemarle, and 3rd Baron Ashford. He was also M.P. for Chichester, Keeper and Governor of Jersey, Lord of the Bedchamber to the Duke of Cumberland, commander of the 20th Foot, and General. During the Seven Years' War, Keppel was the commander-in-chief of the invasion and occupation of Havana and west Cuba in 1762, and afterwards became governor of Cuba, though his governorship was controversial. In 1756, Sir George Pocock (1706-1792) who had been serving in India under Charles Watson since 1754, was promoted to vice admiral. After Watson's death, he took over and commanded the British naval forces during the Seven Years War. Popock returned to England in 1760, and in 1761 was made a Knight of the Bath and admiral. In 1762, he commanded the naval forces at the siege of Havana (1762, June 7 - Aug. 13). Pocock resigned his commission in 1766. From the description of Letterbook ...
